Brand Ambassador Tracy Higgs reviews the Kim Polo Shirt
Our Ambassador Tracy Higgs reviewed the Kim Polo Shirt recently. Here’s what she had to say about it.
Do you like the soft gathers on the shoulder seams and the diamante effect buttons? Would you like to see more of our products with decorative/sparkly buttons or embroidery?
The soft gathers are great as they give it a more feminine look and feel which takes it up a notch or two from the unisex ones. The diamante effect buttons are a nice touch so it can be easily transferred in use to an evening top, but there is not too much to make it unacceptable for the golf course, less is ofter more where rules and regulations are concerned, but these details on this shirt are just right. The diamante effect buttons look really pretty in sunshine.
Do you like the black contrast on the placket, cuffs and hem? Are there any other colour mixes that you would like to see? Would you like to see this style in a printed design or perhaps a single plain colour? If so, what colours.
The black contrast on the cuffs, hem and placket sets it off well and looks very smart. There could be so many colour combinations for this style. Black with cream contrast on cuffs etc, navy with white or vice versa, white and cerise, the list is endless but would probably depend on the colours of your golf trousers for a particular season. I think this style would be best kept in plain colours rather than printed to really show off the contrasts.
What are your thoughts on the fabric e.g. weight, feel? This top has 10% Elastane in the fabric mix – do you like the touch of stretch or would you prefer 100% cotton?
I usually prefer 100% cotton shirts for Summer and Winter as I find this to be the coolest as an outer or base layer, especially if it is a muggy but wet day and you are wearing waterproof trousers and jacket. However, this 10% Elastane doesn't seem to detract from the cool, dry feeling and it felt slightly lighter in weight than some 100% cotton shirts and also softer in texture. The shirt washed well. I was a little concerned about the special buttons, so placed it in a special wash bag but they were fine.
We feel this garment is great for on and off the golf course, where did you wear yours? And, what did you wear it with?
On the golf course I wore it with black full length trousers, black ¾ length trousers and black shorts. I had to put my black waterproof jacket and trousers on one day also but still looks really smart peeping out from underneath. Off the golf course I teamed it with black denims for a pub lunch, with grey tracksuit bottoms for a cycle ride and with light taupe cut off trousers for a barbecue.
In brief, describe this garment in your own words. Please also tell us of any changes to the garment/fit of the garment you think necessary.
Very smart, classy looking garment with a small amount of "bling" to stand out from the crowd. Love the ruching at the back to allow for movement. Very versatile as can be work with many colour combinations and in many different situations both on and off the golf course. This shirt is an excellent addition to any wardrobe.
How did you feel after your game of golf in terms of comfort and ease of movement when wearing this garment?
This is a very pleasing shirt to play golf in and then go into the clubhouse for a drink afterwards! It is very lightweight and doesn't cling and as it has a 90% cotton content it kept me cool and felt very soft and comfortable against my skin. The slight stretch helps with ease of movement and the shirt still looked fresh and uncreased following play.
