Bridge of Allan lessons inspire new women golfers
The local ladies have been flocking to the Bridge of Allan Golf Club in Stirlingshire, where new lessons are attracting a number of locals to pick up the clubs and start playing.
Female golfer Annette Scott as the ladies captain at the course is one of the likely causes of the new found attraction to the club. Tim Mitchell, the clubs roving professional described the efforts of Scott, saying that “she is the best lady captain I’ve ever met – she is phenomenal and attracting ladies of all ages. It doesn’t matter whether you’re male or female, young or old, or if you’ve never picked up a golf club before.”
The actions and popularity of the golf club seem to tie in nicely with Scotland's ‘Get into Golf’ campaign. Around the country, courses and professionals are making an effort to bring new interest to the sport and get more people to participate in the time honored pastime, born in the country.
It doesn't matter if you are male or female, experienced or a beginner, the goal of the initiative is to provide places around the country where everyone can pick up the sport and play. The hashtag #THISGIRLGOLFS has been utilised as a separate campaign to particularly highlight women's golf opportunities, and as a way of increasing awareness and unity for the campaign.
More than 100 clubs have already signed up to deliver beginner lessons at a great value, as well as access to free club hire, use of practice facilities and exclusive introductory membership offers. To find out if your local club is hosting anything special, take a look here and get involved.
Meanwhile the Bridge of Allan Golf Club is looking to host more open days in the future and hoping to draw even more players to the course. Their actions continue to highlight the fantastic efforts that people like Annette Scott are taking to bring a whole new generation of people to the sport.
