Investing in base layers

We are now within that time of year when the nights are longer, days are colder and those bitter winds batter our shores with rain and snow. What do base layers do?

They essentially help to keep you warm by trapping a thin layer of air between your body and the fabric. But on the flip side they can also help to keep you cool. When you are physically active you sweat; the beauty of base layers is that they wick away sweat and moisture from your skin which is then evaporated. This helps your body to stay at optimum temperature, adding extra comfort to you and your body.
