Ireland's first golf academy is looking for new talent
Rockport golf academy is searching for golfing enthusiasts to come and learn and play in Ireland's first and only school-based golf academy. The school is ready to take students from September 2016 and with generous bursaries and scholarships available, the academy hopes to attract golfers both from Ireland and even further afield.
Education will be split between developing skills based on the course and receiving a first rate international education simultaneously. The programme includes modules on caddying, green keeping, etiquette and routines, as well as sports techniques such as bunker play, short and long iron play, putting and driving.
Students will be able to take full advantage of the beautiful local golf courses and Irish countryside, which will provide scenic classroom alternatives. The academy has gained a number of partner courses in the area, including the: Royal Belfast Golf Club, Bangor Golf Club and Holywood Golf Club.
George Vance, the headmaster of Rockport said: “With a number
of outstanding golf courses on our doorstep, creating Ireland’s first
school-based golf academy is a huge part of our vision for the school’s future.
“At Rockport, our aim is to create rounded-individuals who excel in their
chosen areas and with interest in golf at an all-time high, both here and
abroad, we have teamed up with Bangor, Blackwood and Holywood golf clubs to
offer second-to-none opportunities and tuition for our golfing students.”
The Academy is hoping to attract applicants from all over the world. Interested parties can follow this link to the website if they wish to know more about applying.
Hopefully this academy finds success and nurtures the next generation of talent, and we can look forward to a prosperous future in the sport.
