60 Ladies Take on Ladies Invitation at Haywards Heath Golf Club

Haywards Heath Golf Club held their Ladies Invitation earlier this month. Sixty ladies played a great game of golf on the excellent Haywards course. It was a superb day for all of the ladies involved, the sun was out and so were numerous tasty snacks. The club’s Lady Captain, Rosemary Parvin set up a gazebo, which included Pimms, savoury food and cake.

Jenny Turner and Sal Howland finished joint first with 44 points, followed by Meg James and Sue Hollands with 39 in second. After the game, the ladies were treated to a delightful buffet lunch, which was followed by a prize presentation.

Wedmore Golf Club’s Ladies’ Open Bowmaker attracted a large audience this month, which turned out to be useful, as the event required at least one guest player to play on each team. The club saw three days of intense competition, resulting in a close finish and some fantastic scores. In the end, Moira Paish and Ann Tancock from Weston, who had joined forces with two of the locals, Eunice Bond, and Vera Ireland took the victory.

Aged 48, Trish Johnson won the Ladies Scottish Open title. Finishing with 7 under par, Trish became the oldest winner on the Ladies European tour, and she just ‘wasn’t expecting this’. To think, she almost withdrew from the tournament earlier in the week because of a back injury! She had ‘very low expectations’ from the start and was thrilled to have won.

Eleven year old, Ella Mason has won back to back victories in a single weekend. Ella won the UK Kids Girls Final at Brampton Heath in Northampton, and followed her win with another victory at the Ladies Championships in Norfolk the next day.

Ella’s back to back victories earned her a spot in the European Kids Championships next February in Scotland. We’d like to wish Ella good luck!
